Landmarks
Telephone lines and poles are linear in nature, and appear like marks drawn upon the surface of the landscape. This makes them great subjects for incorporating drawing into the painting process. The paintings in this series are derived from small drawings I made of telephone poles. I redrew the sketches on a large scale using oil stick dragged through oil paint and earth pigments. Each of the paintings is about five by seven feet.
